Cloning data is now a seamless process with the "Clone Podio Data" module in thatapp.io Sync. This powerful tool allows you to replicate your Podio organization’s structure, data, and workflows. Whether you need a full transfer or a targeted workflow clone, this guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.
Clone Types within Organization to Organization
1. Full Transfer
Description: Transfers both the organization’s structure and its data, including spaces, apps, items, and more.
Steps:
Select Full Transfer as the cloning type.
Choose the Source Organization (the organization to clone from).
Select the Destination Organization (the organization to clone into).
Click the Copy button to proceed.
On the "Select Space and App" page, review the list of spaces and apps in the source organization.
Check the updated cloning cost displayed on the right.
Click Proceed to Clone to start the process.
2. Structure Only
Description: Focuses on cloning the organization’s structure (spaces and apps) without copying the data inside them.
Steps: Follow the same steps as the Full Transfer but select Structure Only as the clone type.
3. Workflow
Description: Copies backed-up workflows associated with spaces into another synced organization.
Steps:
Choose Workflow as the cloning type.
Select the Source Organization and Destination Organization.
Ensure only apps with backed-up workflows appear in the selection list.
Proceed as with the Full Transfer to complete the cloning process.
App to Space Cloning
For smaller, targeted transfers, you can clone individual apps from one space to another. The steps are similar to the organization cloning process but allow for more granular control over your data replication.
Activity Log
The Activity Log is your go-to tool for monitoring cloning processes. It provides:
Real-Time Status Updates: Track your cloning progress from initiation to completion.
Detailed Logs: View specific details of each transfer job.
Reload Functionality: Refresh logs to see updated statuses.
Hint: If you encounter a "Podio Forbidden" error, ensure you have the necessary permissions for the source space or organization. Get the permission then hit the retry button to clone the failed data.
Smart Tips for Cloning
Prepare Your Source: Before initiating a clone, ensure that your source organization’s data and structure are well-organized.
Backup Before Deleting: Always back up apps or items before making changes in Podio to safeguard your data.
Monitor Costs: Review the estimated cloning costs displayed in the module to ensure alignment with your budget.
